Application Creation & Acid Reflux Aid

Standard

How’s it hanging, my turtle doves?
Looks like my last few posts have been enjoyable 😀 Here’s to hoping I keep the joy a-flowin’!

So listen. I have this great idea I need to capitalize on – now, maybe I say this almost everyday about something twirling around in my head, but I consider it a good day when I drum up an idea/creation! Hell, sometimes I count making a diesel sandwich a victory; the little things count, too.
Anyway, now I’m making it my newest mission to create an app. Hopefully my dad (or even brother) can be a help with this, BUT if any of you darlings reading this have any special knowledge on app creating – like smart phone applications – reach out to me! Let’s create something together!

That’s pretty much all I have the energy for at the moment; I worked both days this weekend, ew. I also just really wanted to make sure you all know that I was thinking about you! And for being so awesome, here’s some information you may find useful for yourself or a loved one today or sometime in the future:

Some of you may have heard of a thing called Acid Reflux Disease. If you haven’t…

At the entrance to your stomach is a valve, which is a ring of muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). Normally, the LES closes as soon as food passes through it. If the LES doesn’t close all the way or if it opens too often, acid produced by your stomach can move up into your esophagus. This can cause symptoms such as a burning chest pain called heartburn. If acid reflux symptoms happen more than twice a week, you have acid reflux disease, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Source.

Basically, acid reflux (aka heartburn) really seems to stink, and it’s more common than one would think. There is a customer of mine at the juice bar who suffers from said evil heartburn, so he asked me to look into what foods would sort of ease his suffering.
Ecstatic that someone at work actually wanted to use me for knowledge that I’m so chock full of and eager to share, I got right to it! Here’s what I came up with.

Foods To Ease Acid Reflux Disease:

– Oatmeal
– Ginger
– Aloe Vera
– Salad *
– Banana **
– Melon (honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon)
– Fennel
– Chicken & Turkey, NOT fried, no skin
– Wild Fish & Seafood, NOT fried
– All Roots & Greens (green beans, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, etc)
– Celery
– Parsley
– Couscous & Rice, Bulgur Wheat

*no tomatoes, onion, cheese or high fat dressings!
**99% react well with bananas, though for some it has the opposite effect.

And there you have it!! Hopefully this was of some help or interest to you. Now, because I’m smoothie and juice obsessed and aim to please, I have plans tomorrow at work to concoct a drink that utilizes some of the above mentioned ingredients. Therefore, stay tuned for an acid reflux aid shake! The name could use some work, though…

Kisses and hugs. Time for bed!

The Power Bar Gig

Standard

Bonjour, Beautiful Souls!

Phew, have I been off my blogging grind, or what! I suppose I had been doing daily posts for a while, so my average is still pretty good. Anyway… do I have news for you! I have a new job 😀 Well, I’ve known about said job for a little while now, but it’s officially official, so I feel as if I can actually talk about it to the general public.

Care to know what it is?
Basically, starting on May 15th, I will be the sole manager of a juice bar called “The Power Bar”. It will be located in Cranston, Rhode Island within a current large fitness center, called “LA Fitness”. The Power Bar is an entirely different entity than LA Fitness, and we (the two owners and myself) plan on opening up a few more in the coming months and years. In October, we will be opening a second Power Bar in another LA Fitness in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Not too shabby, huh? I’m pretty excited. To start, we will be focusing on protein shakes, fruit smoothies, green smoothies and juices, along with light fare (oatmeal, salads, parfaits) and frozen yogurt. Ideally, we want the focus over time to be taken off of protein shakes and onto juices, which is why I was brought onto the team.

Before I actually become manager, I am pretty much playing the role of one of the co-founders. I am involved in almost every aspect of starting this juice bar, and I am in charge of creating the juice and smoothie menu (it was hard!) and hiring and training my employees. It’s cool – it’s fun! I’m enjoying it so far, and I feel that I’m going to be really good at this. The way I look at it, this is the perfect stepping stone for me before opening up a juice bar business of my own.

So… that’s what I have been up to in my life lately. How are all of you?? Of course, this is going to be full-time (and then some) job, so I won’t be blogging every day, especially since it will be summertime! I’m so so happy it’s spring. I feel like I speak for the majority in saying that winter extended its welcome this year.
I want and need to do so many things, though! I want to attempt another garden this year (fruit and veggie recommendations?), as well as focus on herbs, plus Max and I are so into rock climbing we want to climb outside, and I want to try and go to a horse show – or at least ride regularly this summer. Eep! I’m going to need to work on my time management…

Well my loves, that’s all I’ve got for now. I need to finish a few things before bed, but I will try my best to touch base soon! I still haven’t shared any Seattle adventures with you awesome peeps, now that I think on it. ALSO: Come into LA Fitness in Cranston, Rhode Island if you can on May 15th! It will be The Power Bar’s grand opening. I’ll give more details as the date approaches.

Kisses and hugs xxoo
