If You Must’ache…


Hi there!

While I have a few minutes to spare before I have to go back into work, I thought I would give y’all some TLB (Tender Loving Blogging).

My mom did an awesome thing the other day… she bought a Vitamix. That’s right. The king of the blender realm; the appliance that makes all others quiver in its shadow.

Okay, so maybe that’s a bit dramatic.
However, it is a darn sweet blender and I am over the moon with excitement about all the awesome things that I will use it for. It can make liquids hot in 4 minutes with sheer blade powers – yowza! (They should probably just hire me to be an advocate).

This Red Viper and I (reference, anyone? Kudos if you know) had our first dance a few minutes ago, and we’re definitely going to be friends. I mean, look at the sweet ‘stache…

MoustacheThat’s right, I’m back on my smoothie grind! Today’s blend was:
– 1 cup vanilla almond milk
– 2.5 tbsp cacao
– 1 tbsp coconut oil
– 2 tbsp peanut butter (made with flaxseed)
– 1/2 cup frozen blueberries – in lieu of ice
– 1/2 banana
– 3 strawberries

Voila! Behold a smoothie that is great for things such as skin, PMS, metabolism, weight loss and it is a good way to incorporate some more potassium, calcium and protein into your diet… amongst other things, of course.

I even took the time to do a basic Nutrition Facts panel for you guys.

Calories – 547
Fat – 34 g
Potassium – 427 mg (26%)
Carbohydrates – 50 g (27 g from sugar, 13 g from fiber)
Protein – 12.3 g
Calcium – 51%
Vitamin E – 60%
Vitamin B12 – 50%
Vitamin C – 54%
Iron – 16%

Now, don’t freak out about how high the calories, fat and carbs are. You need these things in order for your body to function at its best, and they are all coming from natural sources that come from our own Mother Earth. If you compare this to eating a burger and fries from McDonald’s, this is light-years better for you. Trust me. Plus, it is super filling and you can even substitute this for a meal.

Coconut oil is extremely high in fat (the good kind), so if you’re really turned off by that, just don’t add it in – though I recommend it for those who work out and live an active lifestyle! Once a day is more than fine.
