I’m writing this post from my phone…
so it’s not going to be perfect or extensive, but I just wanted to let you know that I haven’t forgotten about you all!
Max and I made an impromptu trip to sunny Florida to visit Max’s mom in Port Richey, Florida – about 45 minutes NorthEast of Tampa.
Getting here was a bit of an adventure; our flight was supposed to leave on Sunday at 5:30pm, but it was about 2 hours late, which made us miss our connecting flight in Philly. We almost had to stay overnight in Philly and take another flight early on Tuesday, but we only have until Thursday morning, so that wasn’t really ideal. The nice airline lady hooked us up though, and we wound up taking a 9:30pm flight into Orlando. The airline paid for us to stay the night in a hotel in Orlando, which I thought was pretty fresh! Way more ideal than having to drive the two hours to Tampa at 12:45 in the morning.
We wound up checking into the hotel around 1am or so, and promptly passed out after a long few hours of travel.
Forward to Monday morning. We woke up, tried to link up with my sisters, cousin and grandparents in Vero Beach, but because Max and I didn’t have a car and the fact that it was 3 hours from Port Richey, the plan didn’t pan out. Oh well.
Instead, Max and I went to a rental car service (that took FOREVER), ate some tasty Peruvian food (below) and then went to a rock gym outside of Orlando called “Aiguille” – where we officially learned to Lead Climb!!! So exciting. It’s a type of climbing that we’ve been wanting to learn and now we know! Good stuff.
After we finished climbing, we made the 2.5 hour trek back to Port Richey to meet up with Maxs mom; we stopped to grab some grub at Carrabbas as well for dinner. We finished our night by hanging out and watching Gravity (it was sub-par in my opinion) and then hitting the hay. All-in-all, it was a successful first full day!
Well, that’s all for now dearies. I’ll get you up to speed tomorrow when I’m waiting at the airport. Stay awesome! Peace and love.
